When discussing iconic female characters in fighting games, three names immediately come to mind: Nina Williams, Chun-Li, and Mai Shiranui. While fans witnessed Nina and Chun-Li clashing in Street Fighter x Tekken, we won't be seeing their interaction in upcoming releases.
However, the situation is different for Mai Shiranui, who is set to join Street Fighter 6 as a new guest character. It's no surprise that the developers chose to showcase Mai facing off against Chun-Li in her gameplay trailer, given the anticipation around this matchup.
Mai's trailer highlights several of her signature moves, and her super move is particularly stunning, indicating that she will likely become a fan-favorite in Street Fighter 6. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer, as Capcom has scheduled Mai's release for February 5, not January as some might have hoped.
This means we'll need to wait another three weeks before we can play as Mai. In the meantime, we hope the Street Fighter 6 team will keep us engaged with more exciting content to tide us over until her arrival.
