Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts have eagerly returned to the game to try out the latest addition to the roster, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. This iconic fighting game from Capcom, which has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies as of December 31, 2024, has been the subject of fan discussions regarding content updates. However, the recent introduction of Mai Shiranui has significantly boosted the game's popularity.
As the third fighter introduced in the second season, Mai Shiranui's debut has had a substantial impact. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a remarkable increase from the previous peak of 24-27 thousand players, marking the highest since May 2024.
Mai Shiranui is accessible to Battle Pass holders, offering them the chance to deepen their engagement with the game. In the World Tour mode, players can build relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then test their skills in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume for Mai, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has been added to the game.
The excitement doesn't stop there. The Battle Hub now features a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a legendary figure and developer in the fighting game community. Players can experience his unique style until March 10. Alongside these updates, new Master League ranks and rewards have been introduced, adding fresh challenges and incentives for players.
To showcase Mai's dynamic techniques, Capcom has released an engaging trailer that highlights her abilities and further stokes the anticipation among the Street Fighter 6 community.
