Marvel Rivals Reverses Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision Amid Fan Outcry
In a swift response to community feedback, Marvel Rivals has retracted their recent update on player rank resets. The game's official Twitter (X) account announced the reversal of the controversial decision, detailed in their latest Dev Talk 11, focusing on seasonal rank adjustments.
Dev Talk 11: Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
Following the backlash from Dev Talk 10, which proposed a mid-season rank reset that would drop players four divisions every 45 days, Marvel Rivals has decided to backtrack. The new policy, as outlined in Dev Talk 11, ensures that there will be no rank reset mid-season. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset remains, with players dropping six divisions.
Exciting Additions: Human Torch, The Thing, and More
Despite the change in rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out exciting updates. The much-anticipated heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, are set to join the roster, bringing the total number of heroes to 39. NetEase Games had previously committed to introducing two new characters each season, which spans three months.
The reward system for reaching Gold rank and above will remain the same, with players receiving a complimentary Invisible Woman costume. Those ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, players reaching Gold rank will receive another free costume, while those at Grandmaster and above will continue to receive Crests of Honor.
Additionally, while balance adjustments were mentioned to follow the mid-season update, specifics on these changes are yet to be disclosed.
Community Engagement and Support
Marvel Rivals' rapid response to the community's concerns demonstrates their commitment to player satisfaction. Mere hours after the initial announcement, the developers posted Dev Talk 11, highlighting their dedication to listening to their fans. "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!" the team expressed.
The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and more information about the game, be sure to visit our Marvel Rivals page.
