Developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance subsidiary Nuverse, Marvel Snap faced an unexpected ban alongside other apps like CapCut and Lemon8. This resulted in the game's removal from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025.
While many players are experiencing authorization issues, the game remains accessible on Steam for PC users. Second Dinner expressed surprise at the incident and is actively working to restore the game's availability. An official statement on Platform X assures players: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”
The abrupt nature of the ban, without prior warning, caused significant frustration, particularly for players who continued making in-app purchases unaware of the impending lockout.
Interestingly, the ban didn't affect all ByteDance apps. While Marvel Snap was impacted, other titles like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.
Recently, we discussed the addition of the Moonstone card. This Ongoing archetype card is a potential meta-changer, offering a much-needed boost to the game. As a 4/6 Ongoing card, Moonstone benefits from the Ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane.
The current selection of low-cost Ongoing cards in Marvel Snap already provides a substantial pool of effects for Moonstone to copy. Unlike many inexpensive Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which primarily focus on power generation, Moonstone rapidly gains power by freely acquiring these effects.
