Universal Pictures has unveiled the first image of Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated next film, The Odyssey, showcasing Hollywood icon Matt Damon in the role of Odysseus. This new project follows the phenomenal success of Nolan's 2023 biopic, Oppenheimer, and brings a fresh take on the legendary Ancient Greek epic poem, originally composed in the 8th or 7th century BC. Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.
The film chronicles the epic journey of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he navigates his way home over the course of 10 years following the Trojan War. While Universal has kept further details under wraps, early reports suggest an impressive ensemble cast joining Damon.
