Summary
Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass introduces Quests for PC users, offering rewards exclusively to players 18 and older. These changes include daily, weekly, and monthly point-earning opportunities, plus the return of weekly streaks. Players earn rewards by playing at least 15 minutes of any Game Pass title, but access to these new benefits is restricted to those 18 and above.
Microsoft is significantly updating Game Pass, adding Quests for PC Game Pass and new ways to earn points. This update prioritizes "age-appropriate gaming experiences," restricting Game Pass Rewards to players 18 and older.
Xbox Game Pass provides access to a vast game library on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs for a monthly subscription. Different tiers offer varying benefits, including Quests and Rewards where points are earned by completing quests, redeemable for rewards. Microsoft is enhancing this system.
As announced on Xbox Wire, starting January 7th, Quests are no longer exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PC Game Pass users can now earn rewards, expanding point accumulation opportunities. All players 18 and older with active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriptions can access Xbox Quests and the Rewards Hub via their profile. A minimum playtime is required to earn points, and Quests only work for games within the Game Pass catalog (excluding those with third-party launchers).
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7th.
- New Game Pass quests:
- Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass game for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks: Play at least five days a week to build a streak. Longer streaks earn more points (2x for 2 weeks, 3x for 3 weeks, 4x for 4+ weeks).
- Monthly 4-Pack: Play four different games (15 minutes each) monthly.
- Monthly 8-Pack: Play eight different games (15 minutes each) monthly (the 4-Pack games count towards this).
- PC Weekly Bonus: 150 points for playing (at least 15 minutes) 5 or more days a week.
- The Rewards Hub (used for tracking points on Xbox consoles, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox mobile app) is no longer accessible to players under 18.
The Game Pass Quest system is simplified, offering daily, weekly, and monthly reward opportunities, including the return of weekly streaks. Playing at least five days a week multiplies points. Maintaining weekly streaks increases the multiplier up to 4x. Points are earned daily by playing any Game Pass title, or through monthly packs by playing four to eight different games for 15 minutes each.
Players 18 and older earn a new PC weekly bonus by playing 15 minutes daily for five days. Microsoft emphasizes age-appropriate experiences; those under 18 won't access new benefits or rewards. Younger players can only earn rewards through parentally approved Microsoft Store purchases. This update provides new ways for players to enjoy their Game Pass subscription.
