Milly Alcock may have portrayed one of the most iconic characters in the Game of Thrones universe, but her journey didn't begin smoothly. The Australian actress, who plays the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the spinoff series House of the Dragon, recently shared that a senior production member told her she needed acting coaching after just her second day on set.
“On my second day filming House of the Dragon, someone in a very senior position—I won’t name names—pulled me aside and said, ‘We’re arranging an acting coach for you,’” Alcock recalled during an appearance on The Tonight Show, admitting she felt "mortified" by the comment.
The Critics Choice Award nominee also joked that the experience quickly brought her back to earth. “It just confirmed what I’ve always suspected—that I’m not actually very good at my job,” she quipped. “Seriously, I thought, ‘I can’t do this. This is awful. They made a huge mistake.’”
Alcock, who will appear as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in this summer’s Superman film and next year's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starred as King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir throughout Season 1 and returned as a guest star in Season 2. The series chronicles the downfall of House Targaryen, with Emma D’Arcy portraying the adult version of Princess Rhaenyra, who later becomes Queen.

The series debuted in August 2022, roughly three years after the original Game of Thrones concluded. House of the Dragon was renewed for a second season within days of its premiere and secured a Season 3 renewal in June 2024, even before Season 2 aired. It also earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama.
Although Season 3 is officially confirmed, an official release date has not yet been announced.
