Minecraft Movie Popcorn Bucket Revealed

Author : Sophia Update:Jun 14,2025

If you remember those wildly popular themed popcorn buckets from past movie releases, like the iconic Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker R2-D2 container that took social media by storm back in 2019, then you’re already familiar with the kind of merchandising buzz we’re talking about. Now, the upcoming Minecraft movie is stepping into the spotlight with its own exclusive concession items set to debut during its theatrical run.

According to recently shared images on X / Twitter via DiscussingFilm (see below), fans attending screenings at Cinemark theaters across the U.S. will have access to a TNT-themed popcorn bucket and a Chicken Jockey novelty drink holder—two references that longtime Minecraft players will immediately recognize and appreciate.

While these collectibles appear to be limited to Cinemark locations for now, it remains to be seen whether other theater chains will roll out their own unique designs as part of the movie’s promotional campaign.

This kind of themed concessions marketing has become a staple of big blockbuster releases ever since the R2-D2 popcorn container went viral nearly seven years ago. Theater executives quickly realized the potential of turning snack-time into a shareable experience—one that often ends up trending online and drawing more people into cinemas. While some may argue the trend has become overdone (and often comes with a premium price tag), there's no denying that it adds a fun, immersive layer to the moviegoing experience.

Directed by Jared Hess and written by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener, Gavin James, and Chris Galletta from a story by Bowman, Palmer, and Allison Schroeder, A Minecraft Movie brings together an ensemble cast including Jack Black as Steve, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, and Sebastian Hansen.

The film follows a group of unlikely individuals who find themselves mysteriously transported into the blocky universe of Minecraft. With little knowledge of how to survive in this cubic world, they must rely on Steve—a seasoned local—to guide them through the challenges ahead.

A Minecraft Movie is scheduled for theatrical release on April 4, 2025.
