The upcoming May 28 Ver. 1.011 update for *Monster Hunter Wilds* is packed with exciting new content and gameplay enhancements, as revealed by director Yuya Tokuda. One of the most anticipated highlights is the collaboration with *Street Fighter 6*, bringing in the legendary fighter Akuma into the world of Monster Hunter. Players will have the chance to obtain a full Arkuma armor set, along with layered armor options. When either of these sets is equipped, three unique abilities—Assisted Combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken—will be added directly to your item bar, enhancing combat versatility. For more details on how these abilities function, you can visit the official *Monster Hunter* website.
New Challenging Monsters at Eight-Star Difficulty
Ver. 1.011 introduces eight-star difficulty hunts, featuring formidable monsters such as Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Dunna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. These elite beasts become available at HR 41 and above, offering players fresh hunting opportunities beyond Arkveld. While they remain accessible at seven-star difficulty, their eight-star variants come with increased health, improved wound resistance, and refined multiplayer scaling mechanics. According to Tokuda, Tempered Gore Magala stands out as an especially intense challenge even for top-tier hunters. As your Hunter Rank increases, expect to encounter more high-difficulty quests and multi-monster hunts.
Weapon Balance Adjustments and Quality-of-Life Improvements
This update also brings a series of player-focused balance changes across several weapon types. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun all receive various tweaks aimed at improving playability. Notably, certain stats for Gunlance Artian weapons have been enhanced. Director Tokuda emphasized that while some parameters were slightly reduced, others saw increases—ultimately expanding each weapon’s potential. He specifically encouraged players to test the updated Hammer and Dual Blades, which are receiving notable improvements.
In addition to combat adjustments, several quality-of-life features are being introduced. Hunters can now rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord, restoring all destroyed Pop-up Camps. A confirmation window will no longer appear when obtaining an item with a full item pouch—the item will automatically go to your item box instead. Meal effect duration visibility has also been improved, displaying a countdown once there are 10 minutes remaining. Notification frequency in different areas has been adjusted, ensuring only higher-priority targets appear in the environment overview, and they will no longer block map access.
Endemic Life Viewing Feature Added
As previously teased, players will soon be able to view individual endemic life specimens they've captured. In the Windward Plains, simply select "Check Endemic Life" under Ecological Research to review your creatures, including their names, and the size and weight of fish caught. You can also favorite specific creatures so they remain stored even if you exceed maximum capacity. Each creature may display unique patterns or traits, making it easy to preserve your favorites using this new feature.
Performance Enhancements and Reward Revisions
The update also includes performance optimizations, particularly for Steam users. With the introduction of eight-star monsters, rewards for eight-star investigations and field surveys have been upgraded. Additionally, Guild Point rewards for fishing activities have undergone rebalancing—though exact changes have yet to be detailed.
