Get ready to face off with a new challenger in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2! A first look at Karl Urban as the iconic Johnny Cage has been revealed.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster showcasing Urban (known for his roles in The Boys and Judge Dredd) as the Hollywood action star and Mortal Kombat fighter, Johnny Cage. The poster cleverly mimics a fictional Johnny Cage movie, complete with the over-the-top spectacle of motorcycles erupting from flames.
Mortal Kombat 2 serves as a direct sequel to the 2021 reboot, featuring Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero. Joining the cast are several newcomers, including Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi. Urban's addition to this already impressive ensemble promises an exciting chapter in the Mortal Kombat cinematic universe.

Initially planned for a theatrical release, the first Mortal Kombat film was ultimately released on HBO Max due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Mortal Kombat 2 is set for a theatrical debut on October 24, 2025.
Our review of the first film awarded it a 7 out of 10, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles.”
