Netflix Games is losing some major titles! Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City are leaving the Netflix Games catalog next month.
Why the Departure?
This isn't a surprise move; Netflix licenses games just like movies and shows. The licenses for these two GTA classics expire on December 13th. You'll see a "Leaving Soon" warning on the games before they're removed. Their initial 12-month agreement with Rockstar Games is ending.
After December 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to these titles. If you're currently playing, it's time to finish up your adventures in Liberty City and Vice City! San Andreas, however, remains available.
What Happens Next?
Don't worry, you can still play! Both GTA III and Vice City are available for purchase on the Google Play Store as part of "The Definitive Edition" trilogy. Each game is $4.99, or you can get the entire trilogy for $11.99.
Unlike some previous game removals, Netflix is giving players advance notice. This is particularly interesting, considering the GTA trilogy significantly boosted Netflix Games subscriptions in 2023.
Rumors suggest Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars to the platform. Fingers crossed!
