Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a slew of exciting announcements for the franchise, including upcoming events and projects. During the NieR 15th Anniversary livestream on April 19, Square Enix unveiled the online Special Novel, [U]ndecided Option.
The online novel will feature a total of 3 updates, with the first one already available. The remaining updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's intriguing premise is described as, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To accompany this announcement, Square Enix launched the NieR 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix will host an exhibition event at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Stay tuned for more information on tickets and other event details.
Additional performances for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with further details on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has been announced, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Fans can also look forward to the NieR Weapon Story book, which includes over 650 stories for the weapons featured in Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, as well as scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
NieR's first mobile title, NieR Re[in]carnation, is set to launch a developer blog series starting on April 28. Monthly updates will be released throughout the year, offering insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. Fans are curious about the sudden introduction of a developer blog for a closed title, with many speculating about a possible sequel or remake. However, no official announcements have been made yet.
The livestream concluded with a captivating 20+ minute live performance, featuring soundtracks from across the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements for NieR fans in the near future.
