NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission. After deploying and engaging in initial melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.
Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This is the game's first obtainable additional weapon. It's located near your initial spawn point after leaving the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To the left, you'll find a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descent into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. An access point and stairs leading upward are situated on the left. At the top, locate the destroyed bridge (where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.
Your discarded body, containing prologue consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.
Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

- Attack Power: 300-330
- Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, this sword excels at wide-range attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower attack rhythm. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons using a heavy attack, sacrificing the full combo for increased damage output.
