Following today’s official Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo officially announced the price point for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 at $449.99. This next-generation hybrid console is set to launch globally on June 5, 2025, with pre-orders beginning April 9.
In a statement, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized the evolution of gameplay experiences with the new system: “Nintendo Switch 2 is the next step in at-home gaming that can be taken on the go, based on eight years of play and discovery that began with the original Nintendo Switch. With its new features that expand the possibilities of gaming experiences, I truly believe that Nintendo Switch 2 is a leap forward in our journey of putting smiles on the faces of everyone that Nintendo touches.”
Nintendo Switch 2 includes the following components in the standard retail package:- Nintendo Switch 2 console
- Joy-Con 2 controllers (L + R)
- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
- USB-C Charging Cable
Additionally, Nintendo is offering a special bundle called the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle, priced at $499.99 in the United States. This includes the console and a digital download code for *Mario Kart World*, which will be available starting June 5, 2025. Purchasing the game separately costs $79.99, so opting for the bundle offers a $30 saving.
The pricing announcement comes after months of speculation, particularly due to current global economic conditions. As noted by industry analysts earlier this year, challenges such as supply chain disruptions and fluctuating tariffs may have influenced Nintendo's final pricing strategy. Despite concerns, many experts believe the Nintendo Switch 2 will see strong initial sales, regardless of cost, thanks to the brand’s loyal fanbase and proven market performance.
