Overwatch 2's highly anticipated return to China is set for February 19th, following a two-year absence. A technical test will precede the launch, commencing January 8th and concluding on the 15th, allowing Chinese players to experience the game's updates firsthand.
This relaunch marks the end of a long wait for Chinese players, who missed 12 seasons of content, including six new heroes (Lifeweaver, Illari, Mauga, Venture, Juno, and Hazard), new game modes (Flashpoint and Clash), maps (Antarctic Peninsula, Samoa, and Runasapi), story missions (Invasion), and numerous hero reworks and balance changes.
The partnership between Blizzard and NetEase ended in January 2023, resulting in the game's unavailability in China. However, a renewed agreement in April 2024 paved the way for Overwatch 2's comeback.

The return is further amplified by the announcement of the Overwatch Championship Series in 2025, featuring a dedicated China region. The inaugural live event will be held in Hangzhou, celebrating the game's triumphant return to the Chinese market.
While the game's return coincides with the start of Overwatch 2 Season 15, it unfortunately falls shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 Lunar New Year event. This means Chinese players may miss out on the event's exclusive skins and the return of Prop Hunt. Hopefully, Blizzard will consider a follow-up event to ensure Chinese players can fully participate in the festivities.
