Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiating Ritual events, understanding their mechanics, utilizing the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, conquering the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and maximizing rewards from the Tribute and Favour system.
Identifying and Initiating Rituals

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. To guarantee a Ritual encounter, use a Ritual Precursor Tablet in a completed Lost Tower.
Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves, life-draining blood pools).
Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn within a defined circle. Remaining within this zone is crucial; venturing into the shadows ends the event without rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.
Confronting the King in the Mists
The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtainable through Favours, unlocks a fight with the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss. Use it in your Atlas Realmgate to access the encounter.
The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart. Practice is available in Act 1 Cruel difficulty's Freythorn zone. Victory yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessed via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree (bottom right), enhances Rituals. Nodes reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop chances.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each Pinnacle boss defeat grants 2 skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.
Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' initially for optimal reward increases. Subsequently, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for higher-value Omens and 'An Audience With The King' chances. The table below details Notable node effects and requirements:
| Notable Delirium Passive | Effect | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Promised Devotion | 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute and faster Favour appearance for Deferring Favours | N/A |
| From The Mists | 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals | N/A |
| Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute | From The Mists |
| Spreading Darkness | 4 Ritual Altars guaranteed in Ritual maps | N/A |
| Between Two Worlds | Guaranteed Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned) | Spreading Darkness |
| Ominous Portents | 25% faster monster waves, but 50% increased Favour Omen chance | N/A |
| He Approaches | 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance for 'An Audience With The King' | Ominous Portents |
| Tempting Offers | Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolls | N/A |
Maximizing Ritual Rewards
Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency for purchasing randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-tier currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies (including 'An Audience With The King').
Omen currencies, powerful items enhancing other currency effects, are highly sought-after. They are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy.
Beyond Tribute and Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
