Conquering Happiness Hands in Persona 4 Golden: A Guide
Happiness Hands are formidable foes in Persona 4 Golden, randomly appearing in dungeons. These challenging enemies, progressively stronger in each dungeon, are worth defeating for the substantial XP rewards. This guide focuses on defeating Happiness Hands in Yukiko's Castle, early in the game.
Happiness Hand Weaknesses and Strategies
Happiness Hands boast high resistance to elemental attacks. Your best bet is physical damage. While Almighty attacks are effective against Golden Hands later in the game, they're unavailable early on. Happiness Hands inflict minimal damage and sometimes skip turns, but they flee if given the opportunity. A weakness exploit or critical hit guarantees their escape. Prioritize targeting one enemy at a time if multiple Happiness Hands appear; defeating even one is a victory at this stage.
Defeating Happiness Hands: A Step-by-Step Approach
The key to victory lies in fusing Orobas, a Persona possessing the Hysterical Slap skill. This skill's double-hit potential, coupled with its low chance of inflicting Rage, is crucial. A Raged Happiness Hand will continuously use its basic attack, preventing its escape. Orobas can be fused using Apsaras + Forneus or Apsaras + Slime.
Before engaging, ensure your party is fully healed. Focus solely on physical attacks that consume HP, avoiding any other actions. Utilize Yosuke's Sonic Punch, Chie's Skull Cracker, and the Protagonist's Hysterical Slap repeatedly. Success hinges on luck early in the game due to limited options, but defeating a Happiness Hand provides significant early-game leveling.
Crucially, avoid All-Out Attacks unless you're certain of a kill; otherwise, the Happiness Hand will recover and flee.
