SEGA's latest financial report offers a glimmer of hope for global fans of the Persona franchise. The report indicates that Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), the popular gacha spin-off, is under consideration for release both in Japan and globally. The report states that the game's initial performance is meeting expectations, and future expansion into Japan and other global markets is being actively considered.

Licensed by Atlus, Persona 5: The Phantom X initially soft-launched in China on April 12, 2024, followed by Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan on April 18th. Published by Perfect World Games and developed by Black Wings Game Studio, the game is currently in open beta.
Players step into the shoes of a new silent protagonist, known as "Wonder," a high school student by day and a Persona-wielding Phantom Thief by night. Wonder joins forces with other Persona users to combat societal injustices.

Wonder's initial Persona is Janosik, inspired by Slovakian folklore and embodying a Robin Hood-esque persona. The iconic Joker from the Persona 5 series is also part of the team, alongside a new character, YUI.
Maintaining the core elements of the Persona series, Persona 5: The Phantom X blends turn-based combat, social simulation, and dungeon crawling with a gacha system for acquiring new characters.
New Roguelike Game Mode: Heart Rail
Popular *Persona* content creator, Faz, recently showcased the new Heart Rail update, a roguelike game mode similar to *Honkai: Star Rail*'s Simulated Universe. SEGA also reported robust sales for new titles from its Japanese studios, along with continued success for titles released in the previous fiscal year. Notable mentions include Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (1 million units sold globally in its first week), Persona 3 Reload (1 million units globally in its first week—Atlus' fastest-selling title ever), and Football Manager 2024 (9 million players since its November launch).
SEGA's FY25 Forecast and Business Restructuring
To further capitalize on its success, SEGA announced a restructuring, creating a new "Gaming Business" segment. This segment will prioritize online gaming, aiming to establish a significant presence in the North American market as a third pillar of its business model. The segment will also encompass SEGA SAMMY CREATION's slot machine development and PARADISE SEGASAMMY's integrated resort operations.
SEGA projects increased year-on-year sales and profits for FY2025, forecasting 93 billion Yen (approximately 597 billion USD) in revenue for the Full Game segment—a 5.4% increase from FY2024. A new Sonic title is also anticipated for release next year.
