Among the most eagerly awaited releases from last year, one that caught my attention was the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that hit the market when the genre was still fresh. Now, its sequel is set to launch in the third quarter of this year, promising an exciting return to the high seas.
Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage brings players back to New Elysia for another thrilling journey across the ocean waves. To start your adventure, simply choose a character, select a class ability, and pick your starting deck. This sequel expands your options significantly, allowing you to choose from multiple characters, each with seven class options, and customize your deck to your liking. You can even recruit an animal companion to enhance your strategic depth in battles.
The game introduces enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, equipping you with a variety of tools to conquer the seas. Pirates Outlaws 2 is set to be a much-expanded sequel, offering players the freedom to explore the map extensively and experiment with countless permutations of cards and characters.
Run out the guns For those fortunate enough to be on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first chance to dive into Pirates Outlaws 2 and get a feel for the game.
However, my only concern stems from the reveal trailer's animations, which appear somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it becomes available on mobile later this year.
