The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but savvy shoppers can now snag a deal on a used one. Amazon Resale, formerly known as Amazon Warehouse, is currently offering PlayStation Portals in Used: Like New condition for just $148, shipped. These units typically retail for $199 when new, so this represents a significant 26% savings. While a Sony warranty may not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same reassuring 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we anticipate these units will sell out quickly.
Update: The price has dropped even further to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New unit.

The PS Portal, Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen nestled in the center. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device, allowing you to stream games at up to 60fps. The controller retains the same advanced features as the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that substitutes for the DualSense's touchpad. The Portal supports streaming even when you're away from home, provided you have a robust and fast internet connection. However, remember that the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to operate.
Excitingly, Sony has now enabled PS Portal users to stream games directly from their PlayStation Now cloud streaming service, eliminating the need for a PS5. This new feature allows you to connect the Portal to Sony’s cloud servers, accessing over 120 games, including popular titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. To enjoy this feature, you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, which at $18 a month, is a more budget-friendly option than purchasing a $500 PS5 and additional game titles.
It's important to note that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only option for streaming PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar results by using the PS Remote Play app on various mobile devices, including other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setting this up is more complex and you might miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.
PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy
"The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after going in loaded with skepticism. It's a much better experience than using your phone with a slap-on controller, and it works far better than I anticipated. I truly appreciate the freedom it gives me to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when my family is using the TV to play the Switch. However, it’s important to remember that it’s not a standalone device and absolutely requires a PlayStation 5 to function. The main drawbacks preventing the Portal from being an absolutely amazing device are its inability to access WiFi that requires a web browser to log in, and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. For now, it's a great device that represents the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play, and if it weren't for those two significant caveats, I'd call it a must-own for every PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming or needs to compete for the household TV."
