Pokémon Go Fest Madrid: A resounding success, not only for player turnout, but for love! The event saw five couples publicly propose, and all five received a resounding "yes!"
We fondly recall Pokémon Go's initial launch, the excitement of exploring our neighborhoods in search of Pokémon. While its global dominance may have waned, Pokémon Go retains millions of dedicated players.
These passionate fans flocked to the recent Pokémon Go Fest in Madrid, a city-wide hunt for rare Pokémon, player meetups, and overall celebration of the game. But for some attendees, the air was filled with more than just Pokéballs – it was filled with love.
Five couples, sharing a love for the game, chose the Madrid event as the perfect backdrop to propose. All five proposals were captured on camera, resulting in five joyous "Yes!" responses.
Madrid's Magical Proposals Martina, who proposed to Shaun after an eight-year relationship (six of which were long-distance), commented, "It was the perfect moment. Having finally settled together, this was the best way to celebrate our new life."
The Pokémon Go Fest Madrid, held earlier this month, was a huge success, attracting over 190,000 attendees. While not on par with major sporting events, the turnout is still significant.
Niantic's special proposal package suggests many more proposals likely occurred, though not all were publicly recorded. Nevertheless, the event highlights the role Pokémon Go has played in bringing several couples together.
