Project KV Cancellation Following Backlash Over Blue Archive Similarities
Dynamis One Apologizes for the Controversy
Dynamis One, a studio founded by ex-Blue Archive developers at Nexon Games, announced the cancellation of its highly anticipated Project KV on September 9th via Twitter (X). The statement acknowledged the controversy surrounding the game's similarities to Blue Archive and apologized for the resulting upset. The studio emphasized its commitment to avoiding future conflicts and confirmed the removal of all Project KV related materials online. They concluded by promising to strive for improved future projects that better meet fan expectations.

Initial promotional videos, released on August 18th and August 30th, showcased the game's story, characters, and voice acting. However, the project's cancellation followed just a week after the second teaser's release. While disappointing for Dynamis One, the online reaction to the cancellation was largely positive.
The "Red Archive" Controversy

Dynamis One, established in April by former Blue Archive lead Park Byeong-Lim and other key developers, immediately drew attention from the Blue Archive community. The subsequent unveiling of Project KV ignited a storm of criticism. Fans highlighted numerous similarities between the two games, from aesthetic design and music to the core concept: a Japanese-style city populated by weapon-wielding female students and a "Master" character reminiscent of Blue Archive's "Sensei."
The most contentious point was the inclusion of halo-like adornments above the characters' heads, mirroring a key visual element in Blue Archive with significant narrative importance. This led to accusations of plagiarism and the game being dubbed "Red Archive," a derivative of the original.

Although Blue Archive's general producer, Kim Yong-ha, indirectly addressed the controversy by sharing a fan clarification on Twitter (X) stating Project KV was not a sequel or spin-off, the negative feedback proved overwhelming.

The cancellation of Project KV, while potentially disappointing for some, was largely seen as a consequence of the perceived plagiarism. Whether Dynamis One will learn from this experience and develop a more original concept for future projects remains to be seen.
