Finnish game developer Supercell has made a surprising announcement: after cancelling their RPG, Clash Heroes, they're reviving the concept. However, it's not a simple relaunch. Instead, they're developing Project R.I.S.E., a completely new game.
The Inside Scoop
Clash Heroes is officially cancelled. Confirming earlier rumours, Supercell has shelved the title, similar to their previous project, Clash Mini. But Supercell isn't abandoning the idea entirely. Project R.I.S.E. is a reimagining, a social action RPG roguelite set within the familiar Clash universe.
Supercell released a video announcing Project R.I.S.E., where game lead Julien Le Cadre stated plainly, "Clash Heroes is dead. That's the bad news," adding, "The good news is that Project R.I.S.E. is still a Clash game, and even better news – it's now a multiplayer-focused action RPG."
For more details, watch the announcement video below:
Project R.I.S.E. shares similarities with Clash Heroes, but it's a completely different game. It's a social action RPG roguelite built from the ground up.
Players will team up in groups of three to explore The Tower, a mysterious location. Each game session takes place on a different floor, with the goal of reaching the highest level possible. Unlike its predecessor, Project R.I.S.E. emphasizes cooperative multiplayer gameplay with a diverse cast of characters, instead of solo PvE dungeon crawling.
The game is currently in the pre-alpha stage. Supercell plans to hold the first playtest in early July 2024. Registration for a chance to participate is open on their official website.
