Ubisoft appears to be grappling with a string of setbacks surrounding its unannounced game, Project U. Gameplay leaks first emerged as early as 2022, shortly after the closed beta testing began. These leaks reappeared two years later, indicating the project is still active and under development. Now, following what seems to be a full reboot of the game’s development, an introductory cinematic has surfaced online.
The origin and authenticity of the cinematic have not been officially verified. It was shared by blogger Shaun Weber, known for prior gaming leaks. Weber suggested that additional Project U footage could emerge if development continues long enough.
Project U is anticipated to be a session-based cooperative shooter, inspired by the success of Helldivers 2. Based on the leaked footage, the game’s narrative centers on an alien machine invasion of Earth, with players assuming the role of selected individuals tasked with defending humanity against this extraterrestrial threat.
As of now, Ubisoft has yet to confirm any official timeline for announcing Project U.
