Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This innovative game, first announced in 2018, is finally taking shape. The livestream offered a deeper look into Proxi's unique mechanics and personal focus.
A Deep Dive into Interactive Memories
Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi is described as an "AI life sim built from your memories." Players input personal memories as paragraphs, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable, allowing players to refine the visual representation of their recollections using in-game assets.
Each added memory, termed a "mem," trains the game's AI and populates the player's "mind world," a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does its population of Proxies—digital representations of friends and family—linked to specific memories. This dynamic timeline allows for intricate connections between memories and individuals. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox.

Wright emphasized Proxi's intensely personal nature, aiming to create "magical connections with memories and bringing them to life." He humorously acknowledged the inherent self-focus in gaming, stating, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." The more the game centers on the player's experiences, the more engaging it becomes.
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
