Rockstar, the powerhouse behind the GTA series, has just released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms, marking the first significant update in six years. This update is exclusive to mobile users, leaving console and PC gamers waiting on the sidelines.
Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten about Bullworth Academy!
Bully: Anniversary Edition now boasts updated language support and focuses on enhancing stability and fixing bugs. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges as they work on these improvements.
The update brings several enhancements, including the introduction of Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) for Android users with compatible devices, an updated app icon, and the addition of haptic feedback on both Android and iOS platforms.
Several mission-specific issues have been addressed. For instance, the mission 'That Bitch' no longer features an unpickable locker belonging to Mandy. Similarly, 'Weed Killer' now progresses correctly even if you break the window prematurely. The notorious glitch in 'The Rumble' where police cars would fall through the floor has been resolved. Additionally, the update fixes instances where enemies would inexplicably refuse to engage Jimmy in combat, ensuring more balanced and engaging fights. Crashes that could occur when starting a new game or loading a save from the pause menu have also been eliminated.
What Do Players Have to Say about Bully: Anniversary Edition?
The fanbase has been clamoring for a sequel, Bully 2, for years. Although there were rumors of its development in the 2010s, it was ultimately sidelined in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the ever-expanding GTA Online. With GTA 6 currently in the pipeline, hopes for Bully 2 seem dim, especially considering the departure of many original developers from Rockstar.
While this update isn't a full remaster or a sequel, it represents a significant upgrade for mobile players. If you're new to Bully, it's Rockstar's unique take on a schoolyard sandbox game. You step into the shoes of Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old navigating the trials and tribulations of Bullworth Academy, complete with Rockstar's signature humor and open-world mischief.
You can grab Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, which also supports full gamepad functionality.
