Rumor: The First Specs Of The Nvidia RTX 5090 Have Leaked

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory and 575W Power Draw

Leaked specifications reveal Nvidia's upcoming flagship graphics card, the RTX 5090, will boast a substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory – double that of its RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti siblings. This impressive memory capacity, however, comes at a cost: a power draw of 575W. The official unveiling of the entire RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, is scheduled for Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.

The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics architecture, launching over two years after the RTX 40 series. Building upon its predecessor, the new lineup will leverage Tensor Cores for AI processing, DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This launch follows the discontinuation of certain RTX 40 series models, paving the way for competition against AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

Ahead of the official announcement, details about the RTX 5090 emerged. Inno3D, an Nvidia AIB partner, showcased its iChill X3 RTX 5090, a triple-fan card occupying over three expansion slots. The packaging confirmed the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the significant 575W power requirement, a notable increase from the RTX 4090's 450W.

The RTX 5090: High Performance, High Price

The 32GB GDDR7 memory is a standout feature, offering twice the capacity expected in the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti. However, this performance comes with a hefty 575W power draw, necessitating a high-capacity power supply. Nvidia's official reveal at CES will include pricing details, but early estimates suggest an MSRP exceeding $1999.

The RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti will also be unveiled alongside the RTX 5090 during Nvidia's CES keynote. The entire RTX 50 series will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided. The high performance and features are anticipated to make the RTX 5090 a premium product.
