Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rumored for Version 5.4 Rerun After Year-Long Wait
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley, the Cryo Catalyst character, will finally receive his first rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release in Version 4.1. This prolonged absence highlights the ongoing challenge Genshin Impact faces in balancing its extensive roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available on Event Banners.
The game's current system, even with the introduction of the Chronicled Banner (intended to alleviate the rerun backlog), struggles to provide fair and timely reruns for all limited 5-star characters. Shenhe's over 600-day wait before her rerun exemplifies this issue. Until the implementation of triple banners, extended wait times between character reruns are likely to persist.
Wriothesley, a powerful Cryo hypercarry whose Burnmelt team compositions deliver significant damage, has been absent from Event Banners since November 8, 2023. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his return in Version 5.4. While Flying Flame's track record is mixed, particularly regarding Natlan leaks, the recent Spiral Abyss buff favoring Wriothesley's playstyle lends some credibility to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on the Event Banners, the remaining 5-star slot might be filled by either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025. Players should, however, approach this information with cautious optimism.
