Here are some crucial tips we wish we'd known earlier:
Don't Randomly Attack Other Players
Screenshot by The EscapistInitial concerns about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP proved unfounded (mostly). Death doesn't mean losing items; you simply respawn. However, attacking players earns you a bounty. More kills equal a larger bounty, resulting in greater item loss upon your own death. Therefore, avoid unprovoked player attacks unless you have a compelling reason or reliable backup.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistLimited inventory and bank space are quickly apparent. Fortunately, you can craft bags! Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots – craft them ASAP.
Your Pets Don't Actually Die
Screenshot by The EscapistContrary to popular belief, your pets don't perish permanently. A five-minute cooldown prevents summoning after they reach zero health. Check this cooldown by holding T. After the cooldown, simply hold T again to resummon. Bonus: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the stable master (you have one free slot).
Accept Every Quest
Screenshot by The EscapistRune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, many unremarkable "kill X" type missions. To streamline things, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.
Craft Everything at Least Once
Screenshot by The EscapistPrioritize crafting necessary items, but utilize spare materials to craft everything at least once. This often unlocks new, more powerful crafting options (e.g., unlocking Iron Armor after smelting your first Iron Ore).
Join a Guild
While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies necessitate group play. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups, especially for challenging high-health bosses. Join the general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild and tackle tougher content together.
