Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing a new top-tier smartphone that closely resembles the earlier 2025 Galaxy S25 but boasts a slimmer profile. The Galaxy S25 Edge's design is its standout feature, with a chassis that's been reduced to a mere 5.8mm in thickness, down from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner design not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also makes it lighter, tipping the scales at just 163g.
Despite the slimmed-down form factor, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the high-performance standards of its siblings. It's powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and sports a formidable 200MP camera. The phone also retains the 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display seen in the standard Galaxy S25, despite sharing many specs with the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Given its thin and expansive design, durability is a key concern for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday mishaps, such as being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops. The question remains: will it be robust enough to avoid a new "bendgate" scenario?
The Galaxy S25 Edge also inherits the suite of "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and refined throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant AI processing to be done locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications still depend on cloud services. Samsung offers unique features like summarizing notifications and news articles, which can be a handy tool for users.
Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model starting at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
