Hunting for resources in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can be a rewarding, yet sometimes challenging, endeavor. Sharp Fangs, a crucial crafting material, are among the trickier items to acquire. This guide will walk you through finding and efficiently farming these valuable fangs.
Early in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, Sharp Fangs are obtainable in the Windward Plains. These fangs are key ingredients for crafting early-game gear sets like the Chatacabra and Talioth armor. To begin your hunt, undertake optional quests such as "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding." These quests provide access to the Windward Plains and offer a generous 50-minute time limit. Remember to prepare with a hearty meal before embarking on your hunt!
Once in the Windward Plains, head to Area 8, the largest area, teeming with various smaller monsters. While several creatures here might drop Sharp Fangs, one stands out as a primary target:
Gaijos
Gaijos, small leviathan-like creatures resembling crocodiles with unique snouts, are typically found near or in riverbeds, usually solitary. Their locations are easily identifiable on the interactive map by scanning for purple diamonds near water sources. These relatively weak monsters are easily dispatched, even with starting weapons. After defeating a Gaijo, carve its carcass to receive a guaranteed 1 x Sharp Fang.
The Windward Plains typically spawns four to five Gaijos. You can repeatedly farm them by re-entering the area via any of the Windward Plains optional quests, making this the most efficient farming method.
Talioth
Another creature in Area 8 (and sometimes Area 13) that can drop Sharp Fangs (though not guaranteed) is the Talioth. These bipedal creatures travel in packs and are slightly tougher than Gaijos, but still manageable with starting equipment. While they primarily drop Talioth Scales, there's a chance of obtaining Sharp Fangs. Conveniently, hunting Talioths also progresses the "The Desert is Demanding" optional quest, requiring the slaying of eight Talioths.
