My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows. I'm always deeply engaged when a new set comes out, and I keep playing as long as there are Emblems to earn after accumulating about 40 wins. After that, my routine becomes more casual: I log in, open my packs, participate in a Wonder Pick for fun, and then move on until the next day. This cycle is set to repeat with the arrival of the new expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will introduce 110 new cards to the TCG Pocket, featuring an exciting mix of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and those stunning art cards we all adore. The most thrilling aspect, hinted at by the expansion's name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, these are unique color variations of your favorite Pokemon. For instance, you'll see a yellow Lucario instead of the usual blue, and a Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come. A highlight is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and an attack called Steam Artillery that deals a massive 150 damage. The downside? It requires five energy cards. However, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy at once, which could be a game-changer.
Another standout Ex card is Lucario. After playing a more supportive role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this version of the Aura Pokemon is ready for frontline combat. With 150 HP, it may not be the most robust, but its Aura Sphere attack, which requires three Fighting Energy, deals 100 damage and also hits one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon for 30.
The trailer also showcases other cards that might not be game-changers but are visually appealing and fun to collect. Shiny Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are all making their way to the game, looking fantastic. Additionally, there's a beautifully designed Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
