Fans of Silksong can breathe a sigh of relief as the game is confirmed to be coming to the original Nintendo Switch, as initially planned. Amidst concerns sparked by the game's appearance during the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, Team Cherry has stepped up to clarify the situation.
Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release for Switch 1
After Silksong's brief showcase at the Switch 2 Direct, many fans worried that the game would bypass the current generation console. However, Silksong was originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, with subsequent announcements confirming releases on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
To address these concerns, Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) on April 8. He reassured the community that Silksong would indeed launch on both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. Although details on how the versions might differ are scarce, it's anticipated that the Switch 2 version will benefit from higher resolution and enhanced features.
New Silksong Images Revealed
Following the Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo Japan's official website showcased new images of Silksong. While the locations depicted were familiar from previous reveals, fans couldn't help but notice some graphical enhancements since the 2019 showcase.
Despite the developers' usual reticence about game details, the brief appearance during the Direct and the emergence of new images hint that an announcement regarding the release date might be imminent. Recent changes to Silksong's Steam Metadata have further fueled speculation and hope for a release later this year.
