Sky: Children of the Light is celebrating its sixth anniversary with a special in-game event. thatgamecompany is marking the occasion by hosting a live awards ceremony right inside the game world, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
When Is the Sky: Children of the Light 6th Anniversary Awards?
The celebration, dubbed The Sky Creator Awards, is scheduled for August 15th at 6 p.m. PT. Players worldwide can gather at the game's cinema, a massive virtual space capable of hosting thousands of participants simultaneously on a single server.
This inaugural event offers the Sky community a unique opportunity to come together for a one-night-only, live ceremony dedicated to recognizing players and creators for their exceptional user-generated content.
Across ten distinct categories, honors will be presented. The two primary awards are the Sky Community Award and Content of the Year Award. Additional categories include Crafts, Livestream, Cosplay, Storytelling, Gameplay, Illustration, Music, and Sky Scapes.
Award winners will have the chance to step onto a virtual stage and address the live audience in the cinema. Leading up to the ceremony, the cinema will feature a continuous 24/7 stream showcasing behind-the-scenes footage and messages from the development team.
The party starts early!
Beginning July 7th, Aviary Village will become a vibrant social hub complete with swimming areas, dance floors, and parade routes for players to show off their style, officially launching the 6th Anniversary festivities.
Plenty of activities are planned before the main event on August 15th, including a towering climb challenge, various mini-games, and trivia contests. The cinema will also host a retrospective looking back at six years of memorable events and seasons that have defined Sky since its debut in 2019.
Additionally, starting July 21st, players can watch the first installment of a four-part animated feature film titled Sky: The Two Embers – Part 1, which delves into the rich lore of the game's universe. Check out the awards ceremony trailer below.
