Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event featuring iconic Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, Sonic Rumble's global debut is on hold. The multiplayer battle royale, which had amassed over 1.4 million pre-registrations, will not be launching as initially planned. Sega has decided to delay the release to refine the game further.
The team at Sega is currently working on the version 1.2 update, which will introduce a host of new features to enhance the gameplay experience within Dr. Eggman's toybox world. Key additions include Rumble Rankings, Crews, and a new Skills system. Rumble Rankings will allow players to compete on seasonal leaderboards for rewards, while Crews will enable cooperative score missions with friends. The Skills system will equip characters with unique abilities, adding strategic depth to the game.
Instead of a rushed mid-launch rollout, Sega has chosen to take the necessary time to perfect these updates. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a Q&A session scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where they can learn more about the upcoming features and ask their burning questions.
