IDW's long-running Sonic the Hedgehog comic series recently hit a major milestone with its 75th issue. Sonic the Hedgehog #75 featured the final showdown between Team Sonic and the villain Clutch, setting the stage for the ominous follow-up arc titled "Scattered Pieces."
The "Scattered Pieces" storyline will unfold across Sonic the Hedgehog issues #76 through #80. With issue #76 now available, IGN is excited to exclusively debut new artwork from the penultimate chapter of this arc as part of IGN Fan Fest. Here is IDW's official synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog #79:
The long-running feud between ace sniper Whisper and the sinister assassin Mimic builds to a climactic showdown!
Only one of these former comrades will walk away! Can Tangle and Silver help turn the tide of battle? Or will Whisper suffer another friend caught in the crossfire? This thrilling confrontation has been years in the making!
"IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog series has been thriving for seven years, cultivating its own rich tapestry of storylines, characters, and narrative elements," Flynn tells IGN. "Many of these threads converged in Evan Stanley’s recent story arc. While reaching a climax is always exciting, I'm equally eager to explore the aftermath. Many fans will be asking, 'What happens next?' My arc addresses that question, delivers some conclusions of its own, and sets the stage for Evan's next major series storyline."
Sonic the Hedgehog #76 is currently in stores, with issue #77 scheduled for release on March 19. You can preorder the new issue at your local comic shop (click here to find a shop near you).
