Spectre Divide has made a swift response to player feedback by adjusting the pricing of skins and bundles in their newly launched online FPS game, just hours after its release. This move by developer Mountaintop Studios comes in the wake of significant player backlash regarding the initial high costs of in-game items.
30% SP Refund for Select Players
Mountaintop Studios has announced a significant reduction in the prices of in-game weapons and character skins, with discounts ranging from 17-25%, as stated by game director Lee Horn. This decision was made in direct response to the community's outcry over the steep pricing, which was seen as particularly exorbitant for a free-to-play game. For example, the Cryo Kinesis Masterpiece bundle, which initially cost around $85 (9,000 SP), was a focal point of player frustration.
"We've heard your feedback and we're making changes," Mountaintop Studios declared in their statement. "Weapons & Outfits will be permanently decreasing in price by 17-25%. Players who purchased store items before the change will get a 30% SP [in-game currency] refund." This refund will be rounded up to the nearest 100 SP, ensuring that early buyers are compensated for the price adjustments. However, the prices for the Starter pack, Sponsors, and Endorsement upgrades will remain unchanged. The studio further clarified, "Anyone who purchased the Founder's pack / Supporter pack, and purchased the items above will get the extra SP added to their account as well."

The community's reaction to these changes has been mixed. While some players appreciate the studio's responsiveness, the game's rating on Steam remains at 49% Negative, reflecting ongoing dissatisfaction. The backlash has led to review bombings on Steam, resulting in "Mixed" reviews primarily due to the high initial costs of in-game items. Social media platforms like Twitter (X) have seen varied responses, with one player commenting, "Def not enough but it’s a start! And it’s great that you’re at least listening to players feedback." Another suggested further enhancements, stating, "I wish we could buy individual items from packs like hairstyles or accessories! You’d probably get more money from me tbh!"

However, skepticism persists among some fans. One expressed disappointment over the timing of the price adjustments, saying, "You needed to do that beforehand, not when people are upset about it and then you change it. If you keep on going in this direction then I don’t think this game will last any longer. Cause in future you will get heavy competition from other f2p games too."
