Stardew Valley: A Comprehensive Guide to Crystalariums
Stardew Valley offers more than farming; players strive for profit, and gemstones are valuable assets beyond their aesthetic appeal. They're useful in crafting and make excellent gifts. However, mining for rare gemstones can be time-consuming. This is where the Crystalarium shines, allowing players to multiply gemstones and minerals. This guide covers obtaining and using Crystalariums, updated for the 1.6 update.
Obtaining a Crystalarium

To craft a Crystalarium, players need Mining Level 9. The required materials are:
- 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks.
- 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using Coal in a Furnace.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Mine Iridium in Skull Cavern or obtain it daily from the Statue of Perfection. Smelt Iridium Ore in a Furnace.
- 1 Battery Pack: Obtained by placing Lightning Rods outside during thunderstorms.
Alternative Acquisition Methods:
- Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault.
- Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to the Museum.
Using the Crystalarium

Place the Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for multiple Crystalariums.
The Crystalarium replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time but low value. Diamonds have the longest (5 days) but highest value.
To relocate or change the gemstone:
- Use an axe or pickaxe to remove the Crystalarium. A gem being replicated will drop.
- To switch gems, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gemstone. The existing gem will be ejected.
Maximize profits by using the Crystalarium to replicate valuable gems like Diamonds. Their high value and desirability as gifts make them a worthwhile investment of time.
