Riyo Games' "Threads of Time," a nostalgic yet modern take on classic turn-based JRPGs, is coming to Xbox and PC! This 2.5D RPG, inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, was unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2024. While currently slated for Xbox Series X/S and Steam, PS5 and Switch releases remain unconfirmed.
A Chrono Trigger Spiritual Successor?
Already generating buzz, "Threads of Time" is poised to compete with the acclaimed "Sea of Stars" as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. The game's retro-style charm, combined with cutting-edge visuals, promises a unique experience. Riyo Games describes their vision as creating retro-infused RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories.
Time-Traveling Adventure
Featuring stunning 2.5D pixel art and anime cutscenes, "Threads of Time" transports players across various eras, from prehistoric times to a futuristic world of robots. Players will guide a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique backstory, to unravel a time-bending conspiracy.
Meet some of the party members: Rye, a swordsman from 1000 AD; Bo, a veterinarian from 12 million BC; and Rin, a kitsune from 2400 AD. Many more intriguing characters await!
