Ubisoft has shared fresh insights into the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, spotlighting the equipment and progression systems for protagonists Yasuke and Naoe. A key highlight is the revamped Hidden Blade, a feature set to thrill longtime fans.
Each character boasts unique skill trees aligned with their combat styles—Yasuke excels in samurai techniques, while Naoe hones shinobi expertise. Players can assign skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities or enhance combat techniques. Mastery points, earned through open-world tasks or defeating elite enemies like Daisyo samurai, further boost progression.
To maintain balance, both characters advance in tandem, ensuring neither falls behind. Unlocking potent abilities involves specific challenges, such as pursuing an enigmatic shinobi faction. Additional upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" scale, which grows through studying ancient texts or visiting sacred shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge tier unlocks an exclusive skill tree.
Ubisoft also detailed the equipment system, featuring five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded at a blacksmith and visually customized. Unique armor and weapon perks can significantly shift gameplay dynamics.
The iconic Hidden Blade remains a cornerstone, delivering one-hit kills with precision. Assassin's Creed: Shadows arrives worldwide on March 20 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
