There are 12 secret achievements in Monster Hunter Wilds. Seven of these are tied to the main storyline and will unlock naturally as you progress through the game. The other five are linked to optional objectives, which we've detailed below:
- I Caught a Shooting Star!: Caught a creature in the desert that shines like a shooting star.
- A Prize Held High: Caught a creature that bears an Ancient Wyvern Coin.
- A Legacy Restored: Obtained an Artian Weapon of Rarity 8.
- Seasoned Hunter: Hunted 50 Tempered monsters.
- Top of the Food Chain: Hunted 50 Apex Predators.
Let's dive into how to unlock each of these intriguing achievements.
I Caught a Shooting Star!
To unlock this achievement, head to Zone 11 of the Windward Plains at night. Equip yourself with screamer pods and keep an eye out for a Baunos flying near the gathering spots. Once spotted, use your screamer pods to stun the Baunos, then swiftly capture it with your Capture Net.
A Prize Held High
This achievement can be unlocked in various maps, but focus on tight corners and dead ends. Specifically, navigate to Zone 6 of the Scarlet Forest and find the small puddle of water. Here, you'll find a small golden crab that you can catch using your Capture Net. Keep an ear out for Alma, as she'll often comment when you're near a creature carrying the Ancient Wyvern Coin.
A Legacy Restored
Once you reach the High Rank missions, you can start crafting Artian gear. To obtain a Rarity 8 weapon, you'll need to hunt Tempered monsters using Rarity 7 gear. This will give you the necessary materials to craft the high-tier weapon.
Seasoned Hunter
Don't confuse Tempered monsters with Frenzied ones, which are outlined in red on the minimap. Tempered monsters are marked in purple and will start appearing from Chapter 4 onwards, once you're into High Rank content. Hunt or capture 50 of these to unlock the achievement.
Top of the Food Chain
This achievement requires you to hunt 50 Apex Predators. The following monsters count towards this achievement:
- Rey
- Dau
- Uth
- Duna
- Nu
- Udra
- Jin
- Dahaad
