Nightmare Tempest Mephis could be an excellent replacement for the main 4-slot Echo of Electro characters in Wuthering Waves. Not only does it provide additional stats, but it can also potentially make certain damage rotations much stronger compared to its regular counterpart (plus, it's shinier than usual).
All Nightmare Echoes in Wuthering Waves provide similar bonuses, but while most are easy to reach, Nightmare Tempest Mephis is locked behind a few subtle steps. Here's what you need to do to unlock this boss.
Where to Find Nightmare Tempest Mephis in Wuthering Waves
This formidable boss awaits you in the expansive, circular arena within the Shores of Last Breath, located in the Fagaceae Peninsula. However, before you can challenge Nightmare Tempest Mephis, you need to complete a couple of prerequisites.
Firstly, embark on and complete the "Where Winds Return to Celestial Realms" quest in Wuthering Waves. This exploration quest unfolds in the Shores of Last Breath and is primarily combat-focused. While you can complete it in one go, it will take some time. Completing this quest is crucial because the arena of Nightmare Tempest Mephis remains inaccessible until you finish it.
Secondly, you must locate all the Dream Patrols in the Shores of Last Breath. Simply discovering these patrols and marking them on your map is sufficient; completing them is not required. Once you've found all of them, a notification will alert you that Nightmare Tempest Mephis is now available to challenge at the location shown in the image above.
Should You Use Nightmare Tempest Mephis?
Whether you should equip Nightmare Tempest Mephis largely depends on the stats you receive from your Echo drops and the specific Wuthering Waves character you're building. When placed in the main Echo slot, Nightmare Tempest Mephis naturally boosts a character's Electro DMG and can be found in either the Void Thunder or Empyrean Anthem Sonata sets. The Void Thunder set is generally beneficial for all Electro damage dealers, whereas the Empyrean Anthem set enhances characters capable of Coordinated Attacks, such as Yinlin and Yuanwu.
Moreover, Nightmare Tempest Mephis features a unique transformation attack distinct from its standard variant, potentially enhancing damage rotations for specific characters or team compositions. Combined with its passive Electro DMG bonus, Nightmare Echoes are definitely worth considering for most characters.
However, always prioritize Echoes with superior stats. If your Nightmare Tempest Mephis has inferior stats compared to a regular variant, you may achieve better overall performance by sticking with the standard version.
