The Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition, however, includes a wealth of accessories: the controller itself, a braided cable, a high-quality protective case, a replacement fightpad module with a six-button layout for fighting games, two gates, two replacement analog stick caps, two d-pad caps, a screwdriver for use with the controller, and a blue wireless USB dongle. Everything fits neatly into the case, which itself is of excellent quality. It's worth noting that this edition features items themed to match the Tekken 8 Rage Art aesthetic, though official replacements are currently unavailable.

Officially, the controller supports PS5, PS4, and PC. As a non-Windows user, I was eager to test it on my Steam Deck. Setting it to PS5 mode and using the dongle with my Steam Deck Docking Station resulted in seamless functionality without any need for updates. For console use, the same dongle and toggle settings are required for wireless play on PS4 or PS5, and it worked flawlessly on both my PS4 Pro and PS5. This is particularly beneficial for testing games across different console generations.

For instance, I preferred the symmetric layout for Katamari Damacy Reroll, switching to the Xbox-style asymmetric layout for DOOM Eternal. Adjustable trigger stops are particularly useful for optimizing performance in racing games with analog triggers or setting them to the shortest stop for digital trigger games. The multiple d-pad options are appreciated, though I found the default diamond shape suitable for most uses, except perhaps for platformers.
As an officially licensed controller for PS5 and PS4, it lacks rumble, haptic feedback, adaptive trigger support, and gyro/motion control. The absence of rumble is notable, especially when even budget controllers offer this feature. It's equipped with four paddle-like buttons, which I mapped to L3, R3, L1, and R1 for enhanced gameplay in titles like Monster Hunter World, though I wish for removable paddles.

The controller's visual appeal is striking, with vibrant colors and highlights that complement the Tekken 8 theme. While not as sleek as the standard black model with purple accents, its themed design is eye-catching. Comfort-wise, it's satisfactory, though a bit light for my preference. The material quality ranges from premium to satisfactory, a step below the DualSense Edge but without its glossy front plate. Its ergonomic grip allowed for comfortable 8-hour sessions without fatigue.

On the PS5, it's important to note that while this is an officially licensed controller, it cannot power on the console, a common limitation for third-party controllers. As mentioned, the controller works seamlessly on the Steam Deck using the dongle with the official Docking Station. It's correctly recognized as a PS5 Victrix controller, with the share button and touchpad functioning as expected in games with PlayStation controller support.

One of the standout features of the Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition Controller is its exceptional battery life, significantly outlasting the DualSense and DualSense Edge. The touchpad logo conveniently indicates when the battery is low, which is particularly useful for extended gaming sessions on the Steam Deck.

Unfortunately, I couldn't test the software as it's only available on the Microsoft Store, and I no longer use Windows. However, it worked out of the box on Steam Deck, PS5, and PS4. I also attempted to use it on iOS devices but had no success, either wirelessly or wired.

The controller has several drawbacks, including the absence of rumble, a low polling rate, the lack of Hall Effect sensors in the standard package, and the necessity of a dongle for wireless use. The polling rate issue is particularly disappointing for a "Pro" controller, as evidenced by multiple YouTube videos. While Victrix now offers Hall Effect sensor modules for purchase, their absence from new controllers and their incompatibility with the themed design of this edition are notable shortcomings.

After extensive use across various platforms and games like UFO 50, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Persona 3 Reload, I've found the controller to be highly enjoyable, though its issues are frustrating at this price point. The Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition has the potential to be one of the best controllers if certain aspects were improved in future iterations. Current limitations include the lack of rumble (seemingly a Sony restriction), the dongle requirement, the additional cost for Hall Effect sticks, and the polling rate. While these might not be deal-breakers for everyone, they do impact the value proposition at $200.
