Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is gearing up for its second year of downloadable content, and we’ve got exclusive details on its massive 10.0 update.
Since its explosive launch, Space Marine 2 has sold a staggering 7 million copies, prompting publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive to confirm another year of support. A recent community update revealed Year 2 will introduce fresh PvE missions, adversaries, weaponry, and unannounced surprises.
Originally released in September 2024, the game will celebrate its first anniversary with a major September update. While Patch 10.0 promises significant changes, it’s worth noting Patch 9.0 will arrive first with balancing adjustments—the planned PvP mode has been postponed to 10.0.
The delayed PvP mode offers a chaotic twist: Chaos factions battling on a new map, featuring playable Helbrutes. For newcomers, these mechanized horrors are upgraded Chaos Dreadnoughts piloted by trapped Space Marines—remember their brutal showdown with Ultramarine Valtus in the campaign? This mode also brings highly anticipated Chaos armor sets.
Update 10.0 will debut the Power Axe melee weapon, complete with unique combat animations. Check out our first glimpse:

The Power Axe’s addition aligns with Games Workshop’s current Space Wolves focus in tabletop Warhammer 40k. Interestingly, modders had previously implemented a similar weapon from Prime Video’s Secret Level series last December.
THIS is why I’m a fan of Warhammer 40k! Hats off to @PrimeVideo for producing Secret Level: And They Shall Know No Fear. Watch it here: https://t.co/Gf0i2d0Rus

I highly recommend giving the entire 19 min episode a watch. It’s immersive and awesome. It’s a happy grim dark ray of… pic.twitter.com/iuYxprAo2J
Most excitingly, the Techmarine class has been confirmed for both PvE and PvP. While visual details remain under wraps, this engineer-style specialist—devoted to both their Chapter and the Cult Mechanicus—is already in advanced development, promising vehicle maintenance expertise and unique weaponry like shoulder-mounted bolters.
These substantial updates arrive despite surprise announcements about Space Marine 3’s early development. Currently, players can enjoy Patch 8.0’s newly added Siege Mode—the game’s intense version of survival combat.
