The Battle of Polytopia has just spiced up its competitive scene with the introduction of Weekly Challenges, offering a fresh way to test your strategic prowess in this beloved 4X strategy game. Let's dive into all the details about this exciting new feature.
It Was Random Before
You're likely familiar with the role randomness plays in The Battle of Polytopia, with its diverse enemies, resources, and maps that keep every game unpredictable. However, with the latest free update, the competition is becoming more structured and standardized.
Each week, all players will engage with the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions, introducing a level playing field for everyone. The challenge? You have 20 turns to achieve the highest possible score, and you can only attempt it once per day, giving you a maximum of seven tries each week.
A fantastic aspect of the Weekly Challenges is the opportunity to try tribes you might not yet own. The game boasts 16 tribes in total—four are included with the base game, while the other twelve can be purchased for $1-4 each. But in the Weekly Challenges, everyone competes using the same tribe, regardless of ownership.
Will Weekly Challenges Make The Battle of Polytopia More Exciting?
Absolutely, I believe so. The new mode also introduces a League system, where everyone starts in the Entry League. Your performance each week determines whether you move up or down. The top third of players advance, the bottom third drop down, and the middle group remains in place.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty scales accordingly. In the Entry League, you'll face AI on Easy difficulty, but by the time you reach the Gold League, you'll be up against Crazy difficulty bots. If you miss a week, you won't be demoted, but your ranking will adjust based on the performance of others.
