As someone who transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming, I've always relied on Steam sales to keep my game library fresh. Game Pass never seemed essential—until now. Yesterday's unexpected release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass, followed by the imminent arrival of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive, has completely changed my perspective.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released across PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. I spent most of the day downloading it and the night immersing myself in its revamped music. The remaster boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and updated visual effects. Virtuos has preserved the charm of the original's quirky dialogue, despite introducing over five new voice actors. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, while the deluxe edition costs an additional $10.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the much-anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S. It's currently rated at 92 on Metacritic, with IGN's 9/10 review applauding its story design and calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's UI evokes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is visually stunning. Like Oblivion Remastered, the base edition of Expedition 33 is priced at $49.99.
While Expedition 33 was intended to be the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the surprise release of Oblivion Remastered has overshadowed it slightly. However, I see this as a win-win situation. Instead of shelling out $100 for both new games, I've opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, my only concern is when I'll find time to step away from the screen.
Game Pass has also added other 2025 heavyweights like Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics such as GTA V and the entire Call of Duty collection. There truly is something for every gamer.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99/month and offers access to the entire Game Pass library across consoles, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass costs $9.99/month. The Standard and Core subscription tiers are priced at $14.99/month and $9.99/month, respectively, but do not include day-one releases. The last price increase occurred in July 2024, and given the current game releases, another hike seems likely.
While there are no current Game Pass deals, purchasing a three-month subscription could protect you from future price increases.
