To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is letting fans vote on the next official merchandise items! A whopping 100 options are available, with the top two vote-getters slated for release within the next two years. The poll is currently only available in Japanese, but voting can be done on the official website.
The choices range from the expected (like a 20th-anniversary hoodie or a Yakuza-themed pencil case) to the utterly bizarre, drawing heavily on the series' famously eccentric history.
Some highlights among the quirky offerings include: Munan Suzuki's cult outfit from Yakuza 0, Majima's oversized traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants," Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4. The list goes on!
At least one new game will launch in 2025 to mark the anniversary: Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean (sic, should be Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth) is set for release on February 21st. While a second release is unconfirmed, RGG Studio's prolific output in recent years – nine games in the last five years alone, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, plus two Super Monkey Ball games and a Virtua Fighter 5 remaster – suggests it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
