A popular card game where 3 players compete using a 24-card deck.
Current game rules include the following agreements:
- A player must reach 880 points to earn a barrel
- Points are cleared after 3 unsuccessful attempts to play a barrel
- A player receives a bolt if they score zero points in a round
- Accumulating 3 bolts results in a 120-point penalty
- When surrendering, the player receives a penalty equal to the stated amount, while the other two players each receive half that value
The game features these configurable settings:
- Victory requires accumulating over 1000 points
- Points reset when reaching exactly 555 or -555 points
- Barrel game initiation during a player's turn without opponent bidding (detailed below)
- New card distribution when talon or hand falls below minimum point threshold
- Ace marriage scoring
- Golden round option
- Collaborative barrel play scenarios
Barrel Game During "Own Turn":
A player may initiate a barrel round when reaching 880 points during their "own turn".
The turn qualifies as "own" when the player holds first-call rights during bidding.
In this scenario, the player automatically wins the bidding and claims the talon (regardless of other players' card strength).
Failed attempts result in an unsuccessful try and a 120-point penalty.
After 3 unsuccessful tries, all points are reset to zero.
When a barrel-qualified player lacks an "own turn", normal gameplay continues without point awards (unsuccessful tries are not recorded).
Multiple players simultaneously qualifying for barrel games is permitted.
In such cases, barrel play priority follows turn order.
