The team behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, has officially announced the cessation of support and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with high hopes, the game unfortunately struggled to maintain a stable player base, ultimately succumbing to low player engagement and a dearth of substantial updates over its short lifespan of less than a year.
While Dungeonborne's Steam page remains accessible, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can now only be accessed via a direct link. Although the developers have not explicitly stated the reasons for this decision, it is evident that the dwindling player numbers were a critical factor. Since the latter part of 2024, the game's concurrent player count never exceeded 200, and in the days leading up to the announcement, it plummeted to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, signifying the end of the game's journey. Initially generating excitement among fans of the genre, Dungeonborne will now fade into obscurity, never having achieved the potential its creators envisioned.
