You can access Scanword directly from the first screen by clicking on the image or through the "Settings - Other Applications" section. Scanwords in Russian stand out as a unique phenomenon globally. No other language features such a rich tapestry of literary, humorous, and contemporary contextual questions within its crosswords. This reflects the Russian people's deep appreciation for the word—they cherish, honor, and value it immensely.
The application offers a diverse range of Scanwords, from simpler to more challenging puzzles, some enhanced with photographs. You'll find classic questions alongside associative ones, such as "one word" or "one word, two words," reminiscent of Elder Fur's hints. Each magazine includes an English-Russian Scanword and a "holey" one, the reason for which will become clear upon playing. Every page introduces you to a member of our cheerful family—join us and enjoy!
All Scanwords are provided free to readers. This annual collection features 52-53 issues, each containing 20 Scanwords. The full annual set will occupy approximately 50 MB on your phone, thanks to compact images and straightforward text, ensuring we respect your device's storage space.
You don't need an internet connection to solve the puzzles once the Scanwords are downloaded to your phone. A new issue of the magazine is released every Friday. If you've enabled notifications, you'll receive a reminder at 12:00 local time each Friday. Upon opening the app, new issues download automatically and won't repeat if successful. Additionally, you can download or delete individual magazines or opt to download all magazines at once through the "Settings."
Access to all Scanwords and main features within the application is free for readers, supported by advertisers. Advertisers are permitted to display one narrow banner per page and one interstitial ad before opening a Scanword. Importantly, advertisers do not interrupt the solving process and offer free hints in exchange for watching their videos.
Readers have the option to:
a) Permanently disable ads, b) Subscribe to remove ads during the subscription period and receive unlimited hints, c) Collect hints in bulk.
